opportunity for principals called Florida PROMiSE, (Partnership to
Rejuvenate and Optimize Mathematics and Science Education). Principals
are invited to self-nominate for this remarkable opportunity which is
designed to assist school administrators in building capacity within
their schools for teachers of mathematics and science. PROMiSE will
increase your expertise in guiding teachers' extension of new
knowledge, skills and practices through opportunities for feedback and
reflection.
Ongoing collaboration with colleagues and mentors
will be a part of the professional development. The grant is designed
for a cohort of 100 principals to be trained the first year, a cohort
of 300 principals the next year and a cohort of 300 principals the
final year of the grant. There will be four statewide, two-day sessions
of training each year. The Year One PROMiSE Principal Cohort will begin
May 8 & 9, 2008, with a second meeting at the FASA Annual Summer
Conference in Naples, Fl, in July. Register using the online registration at: http://www.lsi.fsu.edu/principals. The deadline for registration has been extended through March 31, 2008. For more information about the Florida PROMiSE Principal Cohorts, please contact Laura Hassler Lang (llang@fsu.edu) at Florida State University.
