The N in NHS

As a national Leadership and service organization, FCNHS has a responsibility to advance the work of the NHS. My state service project, targeting voter education and registration, is aimed at addressing the most basic principal of good American citizenry: participation in our democratic society.

Low Stress, Big Results

Sensitive to the fact that our Florida NHS chapters have different means and levels of membership requirements, Promote the Vote provides an important service while being flexible, inexpensive and relatively easy to perform. It allows everyone the opportunity to lead and contribute, thus maximizing chapter involvement and impact.

Voter education and registration encompasses various aspects of the voting process, and can be interpreted in many different ways. Chapters are encouraged to use their own unique creativity and leadership to design service projects based on the state them, yet tailored to their communities’ needs and respecting what is feasible for their members to accomplish.

The result will be high impact, statewide project to assist current and future voters in becoming educated and responsible voters, that will have resoundingly positive effects throughout our world, nation, capital, cities and lives.

Here are just a few service projects FCNHS chapters can accomplish under the theme:

Promote the Vote

ü Lead a voters registration drive at your school…make it a celebration!
ü Arrange for an Elections Officer to educate students about the voting process and the importance of being an involved citizen.
ü Create and distribute no-partisan brochures that inform the public about the candidates and their positions.
ü Remind people to vote on Election Day by holding up signs at major intersections.
ü Volunteer at election offices and voting precincts.
