Message: During these difficult days, I know yours is not an easy task. But as a Florida school administrator and voter, I am writing to let you know that there is nothing left to cut in our school budgets that will not harm the children in my community. As an elected leader, you must find a better way to finance our public schools. I am asking that during this legislative session you find additional sources of state revenue. I do understand that these are difficult economic times; but there are many common-sense options such as increasing existing taxes on products like on cigarettes and alcohol. This would raise substantial amounts of new revenue. In addition, Florida could join the growing number of other states that tax internet sales within their borders. These are just a few of the many options you can consider before making additional cuts in school funding. Additional education cuts will surely put the academic achievement of Florida's children at great risk... and our state's long-term economic future as well. Thank you for listening.
