The association for administrators, district superintendents, principals, assistant principals, supervisors and those who support the public schools of Florida.

I am very proud to be president of the Florida Association of School Administrators because of the fine work done in the schools to prepare our students for a successful future. Our superintendents, principals, assistant principals and district staff support administrators along with our teachers have met the challenge of rigor, relevance and accountability. For this success all public school supporters should feel a sense of great pride.

As we move into the 2013-2014 school year I look forward to involving you, the members of FASA, in deliberations with our state leaders as they carry out their legislative and policy development duties concerning public education.

Last school year was so much better than previous years. Fewer punitive laws were passed by the legislature and Governor Scott is to be commended for his budgetary support and for his leadership.

Our new commissioner of education, Tony Bennett, is a fine man with a background as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, district superintendent and Indiana State Superintendent. Commissioner Bennett had already demonstrated his desire to hear from us and to correct ill-conceived agendas.  You, as FASA members, play the most crucial roles in the well-being of public education and our commissioner would like to hear from you.  FASA will be that vehicle.

Please be willing to consult with your local legislative delegation on educational matters and initiatives. No one in this state knows more about school than you. So become involved and let your voices be heard.

Several new initiatives will be unveiled this year:
Your association is working toward training and preparing the next generation of school administrators thorough the Florida Education Leadership Institute.

A public relations campaign will be unveiled using state billboard space to inform the public of the wonderful things being accomplished in our schools by our students and their teachers.

Our association can only be as strong as our membership numbers dictate. All Florida public school administrators will be encouraged to join or continue membership in FASA because the future of public education depends on our willingness to be involved in effecting appropriate educational change.

Together we can make this school year one of the very best in our state’s history. Become involved and do your part…the students are counting on us!
I look forward to working with all of you.

Dan Boyd
