Updates From The President

For years, the Florida Association of Student Councils (FASC) has united students and advisors across Florida, creating bonds that last a lifetime. Students are provided with the opportunity to network at events like the annual FASC Conference, FASC Kickoff Conference, FASC officer training clinics and advisor clinics. At these events, both students and advisors attend workshops and keynote presentations to learn information that can be taken back to improve their own student governments and school campuses.

Since the beginning of my freshman year of high school, I have been heavily involved in FASC, going to district meetings and Kickoff Conference. To me, FASC is my second home, my family, and an organization that has made a huge impact on my life. FASC has provided me with an excellent outlet to aid those around me in becoming the best leaders possible and I want to make sure that all students have the opportunity to be involved. After a life changing year and a half of endless Zoom calls, quarantine, and an immediate stop to in-person events, I am beyond excited for FASC to get back to a routine that is far closer to normal!

All district meetings and rallies will be in-person, with district officers focusing the majority of their efforts towards connecting our students and advisors back together again. As many of you know, district meetings are extremely special events that foster an environment that cannot be replicated via computer screen. I encourage you to attend the district meetings to get to know the other students in your district! If you need help identifying which of the six districts your school resides in, please reach out or look on the website (Student Councils>District Information).

As the summer comes to a close and the new school year begins, we need to start brainstorming ways to implement our new state project, “Mental Health Awareness” onto our campuses! By sharing coping skills, mental health resources, and connecting students to school counselors in the beginning of the school year, students can apply the information they have gained at stressful times throughout the school year. We need to ensure that the state project reflects your campus and its students’ needs. I know everyone will do amazingly and I cannot wait to see the impact of the service to help peers and faculty this year! Remember to document the progress by tagging @florida_fasc on Instagram or DMing us pictures to be shared!

District meetings are not the only events happening this year! For advisors there will be a virtual advisor training on August 28, 2021 and an in-person advisor training at St. Francis Catholic Academy on February 19, 2022. Advisors will have the chance to go to Boston for the NAWD Conference hosted by NASSCED December 3-5, 2021! FASC Kickoff will be hosted in-person for advisors and students by St. Augustine High School in District 2 November 12-13, 2021. Officer Training Workshops for students and advisors will be hosted by Viera High School in District 3 April 29-30, 2022.

FASC offers student leaders an opportunity to build a positive environment where they can learn critical leadership skills and better their student governments. By being a member, individual student governments are able to exchange ideas and projects that were successful in their schools with other students around the state of Florida. FASC allows these leaders to network with like-minded individuals.

If your student government has any questions or concerns, reach out, I will be happy to help. I am so excited to meet you in person this year! I look forward to you becoming an active FASC member!

Florida Association of Student Councils

Student Councils

The Florida Association of Student Councils (FASC) consists of over 200 middle and high schools from throughout the State of Florida who are working together to bring about a growth in student leadership development, participation in student activities and student engagement in civic affairs.

Over the years, FASC has witnessed a tremendous change in the role school student councils and student governments play both in their schools and their communities. It is the overall goal of the FASC to assist school student councils in their efforts to meet the changing needs of their schools and students in the 21st century.

Much more can be learned about the FASC, including a brief history of the organization, by going to the Question and Answer area of the website. The FASC is constantly working and organizing to be able to reach the goals of:

  1. Developing and promoting student engagement in their schools and communities.
  2. Facilitating the sharing of ideas, news and projects among member schools.
  3. Encouraging student participation in student council/student government on all levels.
  4. Developing student leadership, responsibility, personal growth.
  5. Practicing and promoting the idea of representative democracy.

To achieve these goals the FASC advertises and promotes attendance at the meetings held in each of the six FASC districts, sponsors a leadership clinic open to advisors and students in the fall of each year, offers a spring officer training, holds a state convention at which state officers are elected and resolutions are adopted and publishes two newsletters, the Florida Sun and Leadership Florida. In addition the FASC maintains a website,, on which you can find the current FASC and FASC District officers, the FASC and FASC District constitutions, FASC District meeting dates and conference and convention materials. Additionally examples of school constitutions, leadership lesson lesson plans, awards programs, and tutorials can be found. The website is updated regularly. Please feel free to use any and all of the information on this website.
