When are schools open this summer in Miami-Dade county?
Drivers should follow school zone signs during the summer from June 20 to July 25. There are 63 schools in the county that will be open during the summer.

There are speed zone cameras at 11 schools in Miami-Dade County.

What is the penalty if you are caught by a speed zone camera?
Drivers who caught going 10 mph or more over the speed limit will receive a $100 ticket if they get caught by a speed zone camera.
What hours are school speed zones enforced?
The hours that school speed zones are active differ per grade. Elementary/ K-8 schools are in session from 8:30 a.m to 1:50 p.m. Middle schools will be running from 9:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. High schools will be running from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Speed zones are active 30 minutes before classes begin and 30 minutes after classes are done for the day.
Do school speed zones apply to all schools that are open for the summer?
No, only schools offering summer classes will have enforceable speed zones. Those with summer camps or sporting events will not have school zone enforcement.
What about Broward?
The active school zones should be followed during the summer from June 23 to July 17. There are 36 schools and zones that would be active for summer programs, and school zone speed limits are in effect when students are present. Summer programs take place between 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The school zones are active 30 minutes before schools start and 30 minutes after ending.
