Dixie County High School’s FFA (Future Farmers of America) chapter won the National Model of Excellence Award.

The award recognizes high school and middle school chapters that help grow leaders, build communities, and strengthen agriculture.

Members say this means Dixie County has the best program of activities out of all FFA chapters in the nation.

Dixie’s FFA chapter began in 1951 and this is the first time it has received the National Model of Excellence Award.

Chapter Vice President, Abby Whitehead, said the win impacts the whole community. “In Dixie FFA, a lot of our members have family who have been in the organization. This is a legacy. After we were chartered in 1951, this was our first national win. Just having that excitement for not only us but for our community. We came home as hometown heroes and got paraded around town.”
