Martin County elementary school principal is finalist for state principal of the year award

Felix A. Williams Elementary School Principal Sarah Tuthill has been named a finalist for state principal of the year.

Who: Sarah Tuthill has been principal of Felix A. Williams since 2022. She is one of three finalists, including Joseph Mikulski, principal of Golden Gate High School in Collier County; and Chantal Osborne, principal of Lindsey Hopkins Technical College in Miami-Dade County.

What: The 2025 Principal Achievement Award For Outstanding Leadership Program is sponsored by the Florida Department of Education. School principals around the state are recognized for their leadership, innovation and demonstration of student achievement.

Finalists are selected based on their contributions to school culture, academic performance and professional learning, the Martin County School District said in a statement. Being named a principal "highlights (Tuthill's) exceptional leadership, dedication to student success and commitment to fostering a culture of excellence in education," the statement said.

When: The 2025 principal and assistant principal of the year will be announced Friday in Orlando during the 2025 Florida Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year Summit.

What was said: "Mrs. Tuthill is an outstanding leader who consistently goes above and beyond for her students, staff and school community. Her recognition as a finalist for this statewide honor is a testament to her unwavering dedication to education. We are incredibly proud of her accomplishments and the positive impact she continues to make," Superintendent Michael Maine said in a statement.
