Multiple counties announce school cancellations ahead of winter weather
Multiple counties across the panhandle have announced school cancellations ahead of expected winter weather.
BAY COUNTY
Bay District Schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. There will no BAY BASE and extracurricular activities either day as well.
Gulf Coast State College will close all campuses (Panama City, North Bay Campus, Gulf/Franklin Campus and Tyndall Education Center) beginning at 12:00 p.m. CST on Tuesday. No college classes are scheduled for Tuesday. All campuses will remain closed on Wednesday.
Florida State University Panama City and The Collegiate School will cancel classes and suspend normal business operations Tuesday, Jan. 21, and Wednesday, Jan. 22. This includes the Early Childhood Autism clinic.
WALTON COUNTY
Walton County School District has made the decision to close schools on both Tuesday January 21, and Wednesday, January 22.
Officials say the closure includes students and employees as well as SPICE and extracurricular activities.
School officials say they expect to be back at school on Thursday, January 23.
CALHOUN COUNTY
Calhoun County Schools will remain closed on Tuesday, January 21 and Wednesday, January 22. Officials say all after school activities will be cancelled for both Tuesday and Wednesday.
GULF COUNTY
Gulf District Schools will remain closed on Tuesday, January 21 and Wednesday, January 22.
FRANKLIN COUNTY
Franklin County Schools will remain closed Tuesday, January 21, and Wednesday, January 22.
HOLMES COUNTY
Holmes District Schools will remain closed on Tuesday, January 21 and Wednesday, January 22.
Officials added all afterschool activities (basketball games) scheduled for Tuesday evening are cancelled.
JACKSON COUNTY
Jackson County School District announced school will be remained closed on Tuesday, January 21, and Wednesday, January 22, due to anticipated winter storms and hazardous road conditions.
OKALOOSA COUNTY
School and extracurricular activities are canceled Tuesday, January 21, and Wednesday, January 22. Officials say they expect school to resume on Thursday the 23.
The School District added they will continue to monitor weather conditions to ensure safety.
They encourage anyone with questions regarding specific events to contact your school or the point of contact for that event.
WASHINGTON COUNTY
Washington County School District also made the decision keep schools closed Tuesday and Wednesday due to the anticipated winter storms.
They added the safety and well-being of their students, staff, and families are always their top priority.
LIBERTY COUNTY
All Liberty County Schools will be CLOSED this Tuesday and Wednesday, January 21-22.
