Okaloosa County School District names Sunshine State Scholar

A Fort Walton Beach High School junior has been picked for the Okaloosa County School District’s Sunshine State Scholar.

According to a Facebook post, High School student Reese Armstrong was selected for the 2024-2025 award. Armstrong participates in varsity tennis, golf, Symphonic band, Hope Squad, and the National Honor Society with a GPA of 4.59 and goals of a career in the medical field, Okaloosa Schools says.

“The Okaloosa County School District is incredibly proud of Reese Armstrong’s accomplishments and her well-deserved recognition as a Sunshine State Scholar,” said Superintendent Marcus Chambers said in a press release. “Her dedication, leadership, and passion for learning exemplify the excellence we strive for in our schools.”

Armstrong is set to attend a two-day event in Orlando, Florida, along with other Sunshine State Scholars to network with STEM employers and Florida’s top colleges and universities.
