School board approves pay increase for Palm Beach school police officers
by Gershon Harrell
The School District of Palm Beach County and the school police union have reached an agreement on pay increases.
During a Tuesday meeting, the school board approved a 5% raise for school police officers, along with a 3% bonus of the officer's pay.
The raises will be retroactive of January 1 of this year.
The police and school board have been negotiating for several months and had been at a stalemate over the new contract.
The school district employs more than 200 uniformed officers to provide security to schools throughout the county.
