The Marion County School Board will begin the search for a new superintendent after Dr. Diane Gullett announced her intent to resign.

On Monday evening, Gullett submitted her resignation letter to the school board. She also shared the letter with the staff.

She didn’t give a reason for her departure after the end of this school year. Her last day will be July 11, per her contract.

“It has been a true honor to work with you and I have been humbled and blessed to serve our students together,” she wrote in her e-mail.

She started working for the district in July 2020, becoming its first appointed superintendent.

“I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition and will support the Board and my successor during this time,” Gullett wrote in her resignation letter.
