Close Reading & Text Dependent Questioning
Improve Student Comprehension Through Deep Reading

Comprehension Through Deep Reading
The workshop “Close Reading & Text Dependent Questioning” is designed to provide educators with valuable insights and strategies to help struggling readers improve their reading comprehension and build important reading habits. Research has shown that the complexity of texts students read is the greatest predictor of success in both college and the workplace. Unfortunately, many students struggle with texts written at their grade level, resulting in lower reading comprehension levels.
In this workshop, teachers will learn the practice of Close Reading and how to implement it effectively to increase reading achievement.
You’ll learn how to:
- Select text to provide opportunities for students to engage in a variety of texts to support their learning
- Teach close reading and provide you with ready-made, grade-level specific lessons you can implement immediately
- Implement and maximize the provided Close Reading resources
- Increase reading proficiency for all students
- Provide support to close the gap between students’ current reading skills and state standards
