Join us for this engaging roundtable discussion as we take a deep dive into one of the newly revised Florida Educational Leadership Standards (FELS).

Standard #8 - Meaningful Parent, Family and Community Engagement

During this unprecedented time in education, school leaders are still challenged to be game changers and visionaries in their communities. The FELS have been revised with the primary goals to align the standards with current research and policy, and clearly delineate between the roles and responsibilities of assistant principals and principals. The leadership roundtable will focus on how “effective educational leaders utilize multiple means of reciprocal communication to build relationships and collaborate with parents, families and other stakeholders to promote the academic success and well-being of all students”. What is currently being done in Florida districts and is it successfully meeting the new standard? If it’s not currently being done, what needs to be done to effectively meet the new standard?

What to Bring to the Table:

  1. How are you leading your school and/or team through the use of strategies that enhance relational capacity with your teachers?
  2. How do you know that your students are receiving the necessary support from all stakeholders?
  3. What are some ways in which leaders can encourage their communities and all stakeholders to support student achievement and the well-being of all students? Please be prepared to share examples.

Three Takeaways:

  1. Learn what your colleagues are doing around the state to enhance relationships with your teachers.
  2. Identify methods to ensure students are receiving necessary support.
  3. Learn how to encourage all communities to support student achievement and the well-being of all students to successfully meet the new standard.
