FASA Mentor Program
Supported by the Strategic Leadership Exchange Committee
The FASA Strategic Leadership Exchange (SLE) Mentoring Program is designed to support the holistic growth of educational leaders through meaningful, non‑evaluative mentoring relationships. Rooted in trust, reflection, and shared experience, the program connects current and aspiring leaders with seasoned colleagues who are committed to paying forward their wisdom, lessons learned, and leadership insights.
Our approach to mentoring goes beyond career advice. We view mentoring as a collaborative partnership that helps mentees grow as leaders, decision‑makers, and people, while strengthening a statewide network of leaders who support one another at every stage of their professional journey.
Program Structure
Matching Process
Mentors and mentees are thoughtfully matched based on:
- Areas of focus and interest
- Leadership experience
- Professional goals
To broaden perspectives and strengthen statewide connections, mentor‑mentee pairs will be from different districts.
Meeting Expectations
Participants are expected to meet:
- At least every three weeks,
- With a recommended frequency of twice per month
Meetings may take place virtually or in person, as agreed upon by the pair.
Mentor Support
Mentors will receive a discussion guide that includes suggested topics and prompts aligned to timely leadership issues. This guide is designed to support meaningful, flexible conversations—not to limit them.
Whole Group Sessions
The Strategic Leadership Exchange will host 3–4 whole‑group sessions during the year. These sessions provide opportunities for:
- Shared learning
- Networking
- Reflection
- Strengthening the broader SLE leadership community
Participants must be FASA Individual or Institutional members with full benefits.
