Florida Association of Elementary & Middle School Principals (FAEMSP) Board Requirements

For the 2025 FAEMSP Elections, positions available include:

President-elect - this is a three-year term including one year in each as president-elect, president, and past president. This person will also sit on the FASA Board of Directors.

To be eligible for election as President-elect, a nominee must:

  1. be a principal of a school including a mixture of K-8 grades,
  2. have the endorsement of five FAEMSP members,
  3. have served on the FAEMSP or FASA board in some capacity,
  4. must be a full service individual or institutional member of FAEMSP.

Expectations of the Role

Northeast Region Director – this is a two-year term and representatives must be from: Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Columbia, Dixie, Duval, Flagler, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Nassau, Putnam, St. Johns, Suwannee, Union

Northwest Region Director - this is a two-year term and representatives must be from: Bay, Calhoun, Gadsden, Escambia, Franklin, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Taylor, Wakulla, Walton, Washington

To be eligible for election as a Director, a nominee must:

  1. be a principal of a school including a mixture of K-8 grades,
  2. have the endorsement of five FAEMSP members,
  3. must be a full-service individual or institutional member of FAEMSP,
  4. have not served more than one term as Director.

Expectations of the Role

NAESP State Representative 

FAEMSP is also represented at the national level through the NAESP State representative. This is a three-year commitment to engage with the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP). Below are the qualifications for the role.

To be eligible for election as the state representative to the National Association of Elementary School Principals, a nominee must:

  1. be a principal of a school including a mixture of K-8 grades,
  2. have the endorsement of five FAEMSP members,
  3. have served on the FAEMSP or FASA board in some capacity,
  4. must be a full-service individual or institutional member of FAEMSP and NAESP,
  5. shall be elected for a term of three years (July 1 to June 30).

Expectations of the Role

  1. Nominations must be received in FASA office by 5:00 p.m., February 1, 2025 through the ELECTIONS FORM
  2. five signatures/emails of support from FAEMSP members sent to dhiggins@fasa.net, and
  3. Conflict of Interest Statement signed and returned to dhiggins@fasa.net

Central Region Director - this is a two-year term and representatives must be from: Brevard, Charlotte, Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Lake, Lee, Manatee, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota, Seminole, Sumter, Volusia

South Region Director - this is a two-year term and representatives must be from: Broward, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands, Indian River, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Okeechobee, Palm Beach, St. Lucie

Expectations of the Role
